Gorokan High School sports field upgrade
About the opportunity
The Department of Education sought expressions of interest from eligible not-for-profit partners to support a unique opportunity for enhancing student and community sport.
This project involves upgrading the sports field at Gorokan High School with the addition of a maintenance shed and floodlights at Gorokan High School, revitalising the space for both training and competitive matches outside of school hours. This upgrade will not only expand training and competition capacity but also serve as a valuable resource for boosting community involvement and memberships for the successful applicant.

Features
In submitting an EOI, the department is looking for a partner able to support the enhancement of the existing playing field by creating a facility suitable for both training and competitive sport, including:
- Field renovation (to include but not limited to):
- Patching of approximately 8,500 m² of turf areas using natural turf, consistent with the existing surface or as required to users specifications.
- Supply and installation of a fully operational irrigation system, including all necessary fittings, controllers, and connections
- Supply and placement of topsoil to achieve required levels and promote turf growth
- Installation or enhancement of sub-surface drainage systems to prevent waterlogging and improve turf performance.
- Aeration of turf areas to improve soil structure and promote root growth
- Remediation, removal or replacement of goal posts as determined by the user.
- Application of field line markings
- Water tank
- Installation of water top-up line to the existing tank
- Maintenance Shed:
- Must be free-standing, prefabricated and constructed of non-reflective materials.
- Construction of a concrete slab base to Australian Standards
- Development must not result in a shed with a total floor area exceeding 30m2.
- Height must not exceed 2.5m above ground level (existing).

- Field lighting:
- Minimum of 100 LUX or as required to meet competition standards with sub-metering
Licence terms
This licence is proposed for 10 years + 10 years option to extend. The school retains the right to book use of the facility during school hours without charge with full access outside of school hours for the successful EOI applicant. The department remains the owner of the school site and facility and will be responsible for any approving any construction works. All building works will be funded by the successful EOI applicant and delivered by School Infrastructure to meet Educational Facilities Guideline Standards.

Applications must be submitted through the expression of interest form. Applications received outside this form or after the application close date will not be accepted.

All EOIs will be assessed for viability. If two or more viable applications are received, a select tender will be advertised on the NSW Government’s tender site.
