      Why preschool matters

Children who attend a quality preschool program for at least 600 hours in the year before Kindergarten start school with the skills they need to learn and succeed with a big advantage. They’re more confident, curious, and ready to learn – with strong social, emotional and thinking skills that stay with them well beyond the classroom.

      The value of public preschools

      • Every day is filled with purposeful play that sparks imagination, problem solving and early literacy and numeracy skills.
      • Public preschools help children and their families feel connected to their school community from the very beginning.
      • With caring teachers and safe, positive environments, children build the skills and confidence they need for a strong and successful transition into Kindergarten and a lifelong love of learning.
