We regularly inspect and maintain schools as part of a comprehensive and ongoing program to keep school assets in optimal condition and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our school community across more than 2200 NSW schools.

The school holidays are the ideal time for a lot of maintenance and project work to take place in schools without disrupting learning.

Planned work over the school holidays at some schools may involve working with hazardous materials such as asbestos or lead. This may include proactive inspection, sampling, repair or removal of the material.

Below are lists of schools that have work involving hazardous materials taking place during the upcoming school holiday period. Some schools receive more detailed communication about work taking place at their school. In these instances, communications are published on the SI school webpage (use the search bar on this website to find your school).

Check the list to find out if your school is included. Please note:

ACM refers to “asbestos-containing materials”.
Safety measures, including air monitoring and fencing, will be in place as advised by the independent hygienist.
All external work is subject to weather conditions.

Removal of existing bathroom ceiling panels in Building A and removal of existing vinyl tile flooring in Building F which contain bonded asbestos as listed on the School Asbestos Management Plan. Blaxland East Public School	Replacement of an external awning on Building l.	Removal of an external awning known to contain bonded asbestos as listed on the School Asbestos Management Plan. Material is undisturbed and in good condition.
Cassilis Public School	External painting of the Administration Building in buildings C and D.	Removal of assumed lead-based paint from the external surface of buildings C and D. Material currently undisturbed.
Chester Hill High School	Removal of stair treads and landing on two demountables south of the library.	Removal of stair treads and landings known to contain bonded asbestos as listed on the School Asbestos Management Plan. Material is undisturbed and in good condition.
Fassifern Public School	Floor covering replacement in buildings A and E.	Removal of existing vinyl flooring and carpet which contains bonded ACM as listed on the School Asbestos Management Plan. Material currently undisturbed and in good condition.

Greystanes High School	Replacement of floor coverings in the movement areas and a classroom in Building A, the movement areas in Building E and the support centre and staff study room in Building G.	Removal of vinyl tiles known to contain bonded asbestos as listed on the School Asbestos Management Plan. Material is undisturbed and in good condition.
