Clean Air Schools program
A joint initiative between the Department of Education and University of NSW, Clean Air Schools was a non-invasive air quality monitoring program undertaken in 2023-2025 at 59 randomly selected schools across NSW.
Air monitoring equipment was installed in various indoor and outdoor locations within the selected NSW public schools.
The Clean Air Schools program was developed with feedback from a range of government, NSW public and independent school representatives, as well as learning space architects and air pollution researchers.
The NSW Department of Education has reviewed the findings and is assessing schools to consider whether changes need to be made in line with the recommendations.
More information about the department’s ventilation advice is available on the ventilation webpage.
